BIGFORK - The Village On The Bay

The town of Bigfork rests peacefully along the northeast corner of Flathead Lake. The town is popular for its robust arts community, live theatre, an ecclectic downtown area boasting many art galleries, specialty boutique shops, and dining venues.

Recreational Opportunities Abound

The immaculately maintained 27-hole Eagle Bend golf course rests along the edge of town. Beautiful Swan River flows right through Bigfok village and plays host to the world famous “wild mile” annual whitewater competition every year in early June.  In addition to this, there is an abundance of hiking trails throughout the area, a brand-new, state-of-the-art Pickleball facility at the edge of town, and of course a myriad of water-activities available on Flathead Lake.

The Flathead Valley is home to Bigfork and Flathead Lake, as well as the communities of Kalispell, Lakeside/Somers, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls.  It hosts two popular ski resorts, a variety of parks, recreation, shopping and dining opportunities.

Whitefish Montana rests at the northern end of the picturesque Flathead Valley of Northwestern Montana. It lies on the western slope of the Continental Divide at an elevation of 3,028 feet. A year-round recreational haven, Whitefish boasts a world-renowned ski-resort, a large natural lake with a public beach area, and Northwest Montana’s only 36-hole golf course.

Kalispell is prime for the extreme variety of activities and entertainment that the greater Flathead Valley provides. Glacier National Park is just over 30 miles from Kalispell. Flathead Lake is 7 miles south, Glacier Airport is 7 miles north. Surrounding Kalispell is over 3 million acres of protected wilderness. Recreation and beauty abound.

As the “Gateway to Glacier National Park,” Columbia Falls is a busy and growing community. There’s about 3,700 people in this town just 18 miles south of West Glacier.  The residents here pride themselves in maintaining the “small-town” atmosphere and the sense of community spirit that has been the backbone of this community for many years.

Lakeside/Somers

Water activities are always on the agenda as Lakeside and Somers are located right on pristine Flathead Lake. During the warm months, colorful sailboats are seen dotting the lake. In addition to summer sports like boating, biking and hiking Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is just moments from town and offers downhill skiing and snowboarding.

Located on the Flathead Indian Reservation in a natural amphitheater at the south end of Flathead Lake is where you will find the town of Polson. When visiting this charming lakeside community, you will fall in love with the beauty of the area, which boasts some of Montana’s most fertile farming lands against the backdrop of Flathead Lake and the Mission mountains.

Seeley/Swan Valley

Swan Valley, Montana, is the ideal place for a quiet, moderate lifestyle filled with all the best nature has to offer. Swan Valley is only an hour’s drive from Glacier National Park, one of the most pristine and lovely parks in the nation. The area offers easy access to both The Bob Marshall and Mission Mountains Wilderness areas, and both mountain ranges rise most abruptly from the valley floor.

Glacier Park International Airport enjoys national connectivity and is ever expanding to serve more visitors to Western Montana. Seven major airlines- -Alaska, Allegiant, American, Avelo, Delta, Sun Country, and United serve the Flathead Valley. With service to hubs in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, Denver and Las Vegas, these carriers link travelers to limitless destinations both national and international with direct seasonal flights also available to New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Minneapolis / St. Paul, Oakland, Phoenix, San Diego, and Portland.

Health Care

Logan Health offers a level of care one might only expect to find in a large metropolitan area. Services include: Comprehensive cancer programs, orthopedic service, advanced laparoscopic and robotic procedures, comprehensive cardiovascular programs, neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and more are coming. Just opened – 190,000 sq ft pediatric center.

Retail

From boutiques to big box stores and everything in between, the Flathead Valley is growing by leaps and bounds. A stroll in downtown Kalispell with music in the park and a fantastic Farmer’s Market distinguish Kalispell as a vibrant retail center. Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and Bigfork are all packed with galleries, eateries, exciting, eclectic shops and all kinds of family fun!

Lakes All Around

Did we mention that Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi? It is one of the cleanest lakes in the populated world for its size and type – 28 miles long, 15 miles wide. Fishing trips, paddle board, boat, tube and kayak rentals with wonderful breweries, distilleries and eateries surrounding it. Water recreation continues on surrounding Whitefish and Echo Lake, Lake Blaine, Swan Lake and the Swan River.
