Why May Might Be Montana’s Best Month
A Flathead Valley Lifestyle & Real Estate Update
Longer days, greener mountains, patio season, lake days, and a real estate market beginning to wake up across Northwest Montana.
Dear Friends, Family & Clients,
There’s something about May in Montana that feels like a reset. The days grow longer, the mountains turn greener, patios begin filling up again, and suddenly everyone is ready to get back outside and reconnect.
This month always feels especially full — in the very best way. Mother’s Day brings a meaningful reminder of the women who shape our lives, support us, and somehow make everything feel a little more grounded. And somewhere along the way, many of us evolve from being “human moms” to proud dog moms too, which makes it fitting that May is also National Pet Month.
Closer to home, Bigfork is celebrating its 125th birthday this month — a milestone that feels especially meaningful in a place with such rich history and strong community roots. I’ve always loved how Bigfork blends Montana character, creativity, and connection in a way that feels timeless while still continuing to evolve.
That same sense of energy and momentum is beginning to show up in real estate as well. Inventory is growing, buyers are becoming more active, and we’re starting to see the seasonal shift that always comes with this time of year.

May Moments, Montana Style
Mother’s Day gave me the chance to slow down and enjoy a wonderful brunch at Florabella in Missoula with Drake and Lindsey. It was one of those simple, heartfelt mornings that stays with you long after the meal is over.
May also happens to be my birthday month, so I’m taking every excuse to enjoy good company and a little extra chocolate — which I’m fully choosing to interpret as official permission.
Northwest Montana Market Snapshot
The Northwest Montana real estate market continued its seasonal shift in April, with inventory increasing across nearly every major market in the region.
New listings rose significantly month-over-month, particularly in Lakeside, Bigfork, and Whitefish, giving buyers more choices as we move into the summer season.

Ceri’s Corner
Treats, Trails & Tiny Amounts of Chaos

Hello friends, it’s Ceri here.
From hooman mom to full-time dog mom… honestly, it’s a pretty natural progression. One minute they’re packing school lunches, and the next they’re carrying treats in every purse, stopping mid-conversation to say “who’s the goodest girl,” and planning entire weekends around whether or not the dogs can come too.
Since May is both Mother’s Day month and National Pet Month, Odin and I thought it only made sense to celebrate the dog moms out there — the ones who keep the treat supply stocked, the water bowls full, and still allow us to take over the furniture like we own the place.
One of our favorite resources for planning dog-friendly adventures is BringFido.com, full of ideas for dog-friendly restaurants, patios, hiking trails, lake stops, lodging, and travel tips throughout Montana and beyond.
Until next month… stay cute, act innocent, and always blame your sibling. 🩷 Ceri & Odin

Quiche Lorraine
This month’s featured recipe comes with a personal story. When my assistant Kesha was little, she apparently decided her name should actually be “Quiche Lorraine” — and honestly, that level of confidence deserves recognition.
In honor of her childhood self, we’re featuring a delicious Quiche Lorraine recipe, perfect for brunch season, Mother’s Day gatherings, and slow spring mornings with good company.

The Summer Guest
“The sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.”
— Carl Jung
As we move toward Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Memorial Day weekend has long marked the unofficial beginning of summer in Montana — bringing back boating season, farmers markets, outdoor concerts, lake days, and those long, beautiful evenings we wait all winter for.
Real estate is never just about property — it’s about lifestyle, timing, relationships, and having the right guidance along the way. I’m grateful for the trust so many of you continue to place in me, and I never take that lightly.
Wishing you a beautiful May and a wonderful start to summer.
Warmly,
Denise
